What Steals Your Joy?

We are heading into that holiday you probably love…or hate. Valentine’s Day. Practicing transparency I can honestly say I love to hate the holiday. My cynicism surfaces and I scoff at the flowers, chocolate and jewelry lavished on friends and family. Yet during seasons of my life I’ve pouted and wished it were my turn to receive such attention. I’ve COMPARED my lot in life, my season, my moment in time to others. Wow what a mistake!

“Comparison is the thief of joy,” proclaimed Theodore Roosevelt. When we reminisce about how we used to be a size 4 on our wedding day, that we never used to have grey hair, how working out used to be so much easier, or that our friends’ relationships seem to be on track and ours feels derailed, is that not stealing our joy?

It’s easy to think about the good ‘ol days, but is thinking about “I used to…” or “I wish I were like…” really good for us? Is that feeding our strengths, talents and abilities?

Instead of looking at those size 4 jeans hanging in our closet or wishing we had the body of a friend or celebrity, focus instead on our strengths—the gifts we’ve been blessed with—and consistency.

What are you doing, consistently, to develop your strengths? To create the change you’re looking for?

The only day we should compare our current self to is yesterday. What can we do better today than yesterday?

In the spirit of establishing consistency, Thrive’s next 8-week session starts Monday, February 29! Registration is now OPEN. Please select your preferred class time and register at either the Get Fit Davis or Get Fit Davis Sport front counter. We are keeping class sizes small and looking forward to transitioning into our new workout space in April 2016!

You will have the opportunity to set new goals, make a plan, and take action to achieve results.

Join us for what promises to be a journey about choosing YOU, loving YOUR body and nourishing YOUR mind!

Happy Valentine's Day,

Amy & Brenna
